Purpose

The goal of this team is to conduct an environmental scan to review concept mapping tools, standards or frameworks that support consuming already created maps, and any existing models that might support the use of external maps by a distributed query system. The team will start off by conducting an environmental scan by reviewing the work that’s being done by the subject matter experts in the industry through a series of presentations. After the presentations and environmental scans are complete, the team will be tasked with summarizing all presentations to date and extracting recurring key themes and common best practices within the presentations that could be applied to the Reference Implementation for QH

Medical Entities Dictionary
11/23/2011
The Medical Entities Dictionary is a large repository of medical concepts that are drawn from a variety of sources either developed or used at the New York Presbyterian Hospital, including the UMLS, ICD9-CM and LOINC. Currently numbering over 100,000, these concepts correspond to coded terms used in systems and applications throughout both medical centers (Columbia-Presbyterian and New York-Cornell). It continues to grow at about 6,000 terms per year, although accelerated growth is anticipated as additional network hospitals are integrated into the NYPH system. http://med.dmi.columbia.edu/
