Data Access for Research-Phase 3 Pilots
DAF is currently interviewing interested pilot sites and reviewing their abilities to meet the minimum set of requirements for Phase 3 pilots. Please join our next All Hands call on Wednesday, December 3rd for additional updates. Meeting details can be found below.

SDO Updates

DAF introduced a new Project Scope Statement (PSS) at the HL7 Work Group Meeting in October, with our sponsoring work group, Infrastructure and Messaging (InM). The new PSS will integrate any updates from pilot implementations, changes for FHIR DSTU R2.1 and beyond, and any changes from Meaningful Use regulations into the DAF FHIR IG DSTU.

The Project Scope Statement was approved by InM, the Structured Documents Work Group (SDWG), and the US Realm Board Committee. It is now being directed for additional approvals with the Foundation and Technical Steering Division, and then to the HL7 Technical Steering Committee. More information on meeting artifacts can be found here: http://www.hl7.org/Special/committees/inm/index.cfm

IHE will be hosting the North America Connectathon from January 25-29, 2016 in Cleveland, Ohio, where DAF will be testing its Document Metadata IG at the HIMMS Innovation Center. Four organizations have signed up for testing the DAF Document IG at the Connectathon, to learn more, please click here: http://www.iheusa.org/connectathon-registration.aspx

Sequioa Project / Carequality Project
DAF has an ongoing collaboration with the Sequoia Project’s Carequality Implementation Guide under the Query Workgroup. DAF completed the first discussion on the differences between the DAF IG and Care Equality IG, and anticipates Change Proposals with IHE for long-term alignment to continue addressing query stacks, error flows, details in terms of transactions, and policy vs. technical aspects.

DAF Publication Announcements

On September 23, 2015, Health Level Seven® International (HL7®) published Release 2 of the HL7 Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR®) Draft Standard for Trial Use (DSTU). Additionally, we are pleased to announce that the DAF FHIR Implementation Guide, a US-realm specific implementation guide, has also been published!! The DAF FHIR IG identifies and recommends standards for the interoperable representation and transmission of data using the notion of a Query Stack which modularizes the various layers of the Data Access Framework.

DAF Document Metadata Based Access IG (IHE)
On September 24, 2015, the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) Patient Care Coordination (PCC) Technical Committee published The Data Access Framework (DAF) Document Metadata Based Access Implementation Guide. This US National Extension provides requirements and guidance on accessing clinical documents created during clinical workflows. The guide accomplishes this using RESTful resources based on HL7 FHIR® and the more traditional SOAP based IHE Profiles.

Any general comments can be submitted here.
